The Design Story
dagarDagarWhen Kailashi Devi sat on her loom to weave this Manchaha, she thought of the long paths she has walked in her village, narrow mud trails cutting through fields, the marks left by sickles, and the patterns made when the earth is ploughed. Those everyday impressions found their way into her rug. The crisscross lines you see are not just designs, but echoes of footsteps, farming tools, and the flow of water channels that guide life in her home. The shades of blue and green reflect the changing skies she sees above her—clear after a rainfall, dusky during winter evenings, and sometimes heavy with clouds. The rug carries fragments of her daily life, walking to fetch water, tending to the fields, and watching the seasons change. By the time the rug was finished, it had become her own pathway, woven with patience and the quiet beauty of her village life.
