The Design Story
vasudhaVasudhaIn this Manchaha rug, Meena Devi has gradually constructed the surface, allowing colours and textures to flow and blend without rigid boundaries. Her design process is more intuitive than methodical. She permits the rug to develop organically as she weaves, following her instincts in the moment. She blended shades of blue, green, and earthy hues to mirror the image of Earth. For her, the round shape signifies completeness. She believes that the earth encompasses everything in a circular form - land, water, life, and memory - and she aimed for this rug to embody the same essence. At the end, she named her carpet “Vasudha,” which means “Earth.”
