The Design Story
jashika ki pasandJashika ki PasandAarti, Kavita, and Savitri came together to create their magical carpet, naming it "Jashika ki Pasand" (Jashika's Favorite). Jashika, Savitri's daughter, adores the Indian sweet Kaju Katli, which inspired them to weave its likeness into the carpet. Aarti, Jashika's aunt, knew of her fondness and suggested incorporating it. Their creative journey began with weaving grass-like textures, followed by delicate dots and lines. They added "Lehereiya" (wavy) designs for a traditional touch and included motifs inspired by mehendi patterns. Their approach involved weaving crooked lines and varied patterns, stopping when they ran out of particular yarn colors. Throughout the carpet, simple yet deliberate patterns of lines and boxes emerged. The trio savored the process, embracing freedom from strict design rules and finding joy in their creative flow. Their carpet not only reflects Jashika's favorite treat but also embodies the spirit of spontaneity and collaboration among the weavers.
