The Design Story

pul-kriti

Pul-Kriti
Rajeshwari and Moolchand, who are talented brother-in-law and sister-in-law, worked together to create a mesmerizing Manchaha carpet. Their shared passion for crafting these unique rugs brought forth a captivating design. Inspired by their home's wall patterns, Rajeshwari and Moolchand intricately wove the carpet with a slow and steady design and even the Small windows, reminiscent of those in their own home, added a personal touch to their creation. While weaving, Moolchand had to travel to a different city for work. Along the way, he came across a grand bridge, providing him with a breathtaking view of a flowing river and majestic mountains. Upon returning, Moolchand shared this scenic experience with Rajeshwari. Inspired by his vivid description, they decided to incorporate the bridge and mountain scenery into their rug. Continuing their artistic journey, they depicted smoke rising behind the bridge, forming a graceful plume. To complete the masterpiece, they added a cluster of date palm leaves and crafted a small sky above. They named their manchaha rug as, "Pul-Kriti" (Shape of a Bridge). This hand-knotted rug is a testament to their shared creativity and the personal experiences that shape their craft.
