The Design Story
janmon ka sathJanmon ka Sath"Janmon Ka Saath”, a bond that transcends lifetimes, a promise to be together in every birth. This is the essence of the Manchaha rug woven by the husband-wife duo, Upasana and Ramu, a couple whose love finds expression on the loom. Their journey began with a trip to Ayodhya, the sacred land of Lord Ram. The moment they arrived at the station, they felt immersed in a wave of devotion. Upasana, ever curious and observant, took in every detail — the station walls adorned with bow-and-arrow motifs, the decorated shops, the air itself humming with the chant of Lord Ram. For both of them, it was an unforgettable spiritual experience. They visited the grand temple, offered prayers, and sought blessings for the new Manchaha rug they planned to start upon returning home. The beauty and divinity of Ayodhya lingered in their hearts, and it naturally flowed into their art. Once back, they decided to bring their memories to life on the loom. Inspired by the arrow motifs from the station walls, they recreated them from memory. They even wove a miniature version of the station’s outer façade. The gardens, temple architecture, and floral designs they had admired in Ayodhya also found their way into the rug’s intricate patterns. As they wove, conversations about Lord Ram and Sita, the divine couple, flowed between them. Their own bond mirrored the devotion and love they spoke of. Having woven side by side for over five years, Upasana and Ramu cherish the dream of continuing this journey together in every lifetime. In honor of their love, faith, and shared creativity, they named their rug “Janmon Ka Saath” (A Bond Across Lifetimes).
