The Design Story

gaon ki sair

Gaon Ki Sair
Gaon Ki Sair is a beautiful representation of Prem Devi's village. She used shades of blue and golden yarns to weave this Manchaha rug during the winter season. The hues of blue reminded her of the fog that blanket the entire village. Prem wakes up early in the morning to witness the whole village covered in fog and when the sun rises, things start to become visible. She also incorporated the fishes in the pond near her home, where she visits them every day to feed them. She weaved that moment in time when the fields in the village glisten with water droplets in winters, covered with fog and mist, and how the sunlight shines on the fields, melting the mist, creating a mesmerizing view. She also weaves her own home in the midst of the foggy land and invites you to join her morning walk in the village during winters. She named her Manchaha "Gaon Ki Sair".
