The Design Story
ulajh-sulajhUlajh-SulajhKavita’s whole family is involved with the art of weaving. She and her husband, her son and his wife also weave. They are a small family that lives together in every situation. As they started with their latest weaving project, they initially captured the beautiful greenery of their village, portraying the lush trees and majestic mountains. However, life took an unexpected turn, and the family encountered some challenges that led to tension and discord that affected their carpet too. The tuff situation seeped into their creative process, resulting in a clustered pattern emerging on the loom which at the end, they all loved. Surprisingly, as they wove each knot, they found solace in the chaos. When asked about how do they feel about the final outcome of the design, Kavita proudly said that weaving this carpet gave their mind the space it needed the most. Their Ulajh-Sulajh (Entangle-Detangle) became a source of solace and a reminder that, even in life's most chaotic moments, they had something dependable to turn to that strengthened the bond of their family.
