The Design Story
chunariChunariMaya has spent 30 years collecting vibrant “chunaris”, the drapes she carries over her head. Each one holds a memory, a festival, a season of her life. When she sat at the loom, she decided every shade must find a place in her Manchaha. Together with her neighbour, she wove a magical kaleidoscope of colors, mixing their stories together. At the very center of the rug sits a pot, filled with blended hues—as if Maya has gathered every drop of color she has lived with and poured it into one vessel. Her most intricate design is a series of tiny triangular mirror motifs, inspired by the glass windows in her home that scatter light like stars. With a full heart, Maya named her carpet Chunari, a tribute to the colors, memories, and years woven into her life.
