As the concept of tiny homes gets more and more popular, people are finding increasingly innovative ways to make the best of the space and optimize the small interiors. It allows every homeowner to put their creative hat on, fit everything in, and make the space look bigger. This requires coming up with aesthetically smart decisions to make a small home look and feel big. With the right tips and tricks, anybody can go ahead and move things around in their home without having to rely on a professional. Read on to find more:

      1. Reflective Surfaces

Not only are mirrors one of the simplest ways to create the illusion of a larger room, but adding more reflective surfaces like glossy tiles and white lacquered walls can also make your space look larger than life. These shiny materials are reflective and will generate the same maximizing effect as a mirror, bouncing light and making the space feel and look airier.

      2. Opt for Light Colors

As with any space, the darker the walls, the smaller the place will feel. Hence, white walls are popular among homeowners, big or small. They simply fill the room with light, making it look bigger and brighter. How about adding a designer rug in white or ivory to incorporate even more light and some texture?

      3. Mounted Furniture/Furniture with Legs

One of the best ways of making more space visible and available is by opting for mounted furniture or furniture with legs. These take up less room but offer similar storage capacity and functionality. Being able to see the floor underneath the furniture makes the room look less stuffed and bulky. You can even give foldaway furniture a shot for the ultimate space-saving hack. For example, if you are someone who works from home, you can opt for a wall-hung desk that can be folded and stowed away when not in use. Place a cute little geometric rug on the leg of the chair, and you will have a makeshift home office that is functional and takes the least space.

      4. Wall-to-Wall Dining Area

Just because you have a small dining area doesn’t mean you have to give up on entertaining guests and having good family meals; in your small living space, pick a corner and ensure the table, chairs, and couch are placed on the walls you can access. This way, you can use the space optimally and have a fun and spacious dining space. Play around with lighting, wall art, and the dining area furniture to create a lush look. Place a jute rug in the space in your favorite color and an attractive design, and you will have an attractive dining space in your living room.

      5. Multi-Function Pieces

One essential for a small space is to find pieces that can serve more than one or even two purposes. For example, a table that functions as a desk and a dining table, a sofa that can fold out to be a bed, or cubes that serve as a coffee table and bonus seats. Smart decor pieces like these are innovative and fun and definitely light up any space.

      6. Take Advantage of Every Architectural Quirk

Do you know how some homes have architectural quirks that are often left unused and unutilized? Be creative and include these spaces to create something you will love. For example, if you have a bookshelf on the floor by the window, place some cushions on it and make a seating area out of it. Or, the radiator by your window can become your reading nook if you invest in a pretty cover, a throw rug, and some fun cushion covers. This way, you can eliminate the space a couch takes up in a small studio. You can also place flatweave rugs on the floor by layering them up and adding some throw cushions, and you will have a boho-chic setting for your evening teas.

      7. Create Zones

You can create more space by segregating the different zones in your house. For example, if you wish to demarcate your living space from your bedroom, use super high curtains and an element like a floating painting to segregate the space even more. This way, you can partition the space without making the space look cramped and also have the living room to entertain people without people seeing your bedroom. Rugs are also a great way to create zones. Pick some of the most popular rugs for interior decors, like shag or jute rugsand you will notice how handy it is when it comes to partitioning space.

      8. Treat Smaller Spaces with More Love

If you aren’t paying attention to a particular space because it looks tiny, you might miss out on some great decor opportunities. In fact, you should be elevating and personalizing the space to make it look full of life. Spaces like the powder room are a perfect example where you can add eclectic artwork and make it pack a punch. Add a small geometric or jute rug on the floor to highlight the space further.

      9. Spend Time to Incorporate Good Lighting

Good lighting can make, and unwise lighting can break your home decor. It changes the mood of the space and can potentially make every decor element in the room come to life. If your space lacks good lighting, the ambiance and the illusion of space in the room are highly affected. The placement of light and the kind of light you are using are also some of the most important aspects, and they work in conjunction with color, room size, natural light, and, of course, furniture. When everything comes together, so will your tiny but lively space.

Just because you are dealing with a small space doesn’t mean you have to limit your creative possibilities in decorating or incorporate interesting spaces that make your space full of character. So go ahead and incorporate the above tips for a tiny house that is memorable and full of space.
