From chatting with weavers and their goats over a cup of chai to losing myself in ‘boli’ (weavers’ song), every bit was truly magical”- Megan, USA.
The Pink City of Rajasthan is famed for its colorful amalgamation of architecture, adventure, and hospitality, adorned with old-world charms and new-world vibrancy. Each corner in Jaipur echoes the splendors of history in varying hues of pink, and visitors come from all over the world to experience a deep connection to its culture.
Jaipur Rugs invites you to take a break from the city by indulging in the rustic charm of rural Rajasthan. Witness an internationally renowned and factory-less supply chain that produces handmade rugs. Listen to the stories of women weavers and see how weaving integrates their daily lives.
Journey with us on trains, jeeps, tractors, bullock carts, motorbikes, camel carts, and then trek to remote homes connected by mud roads and single-lane highways. Visit homes in valleys, amongst hills, and on riversides, between the narrow alleys of crowded villages and farmlands that are empty for as far as the eye can see.
Meet shy families who will teach you how to weave, tell you about their lives, and share cups of chai with you as you are introduced to a new way of life. A day trip from Jaipur will introduce you to the experience of a lifetime.
These journeys show appreciation for the culture and arts being kept alive in villages. Reach out to us on Airbnb.

We’ll meet and speak to unsung heroes in the community and listen to their stories as they take us through a wonderful journey full of arts and craftsmanship. We’ll even get to cross paths with artisans and weavers of Jaipur Rugs in these remote villages who learn and pass their craft to each new generation.
During our trip, you’ll get to know some of the women behind Jaipur Rugs’ exquisite carpets and rugs. They, unknown to many, learned the ancient art of hand-weaving from their mothers, who learned from their mothers – forming an influential part of their cultural identity.
You may even get a rare opportunity to see these techniques and crafts in action and a chance to try your hand at weaving under their guide, surrounded by unique textiles and handmade rugs or crafts like baskets made of mulberry stems and kooncha grass. And if you’re lucky enough, you may even get to enjoy the rhythmic beat of folk music and dance!
At the end of the trip, you’ll have made memories unlike any other you’ve experienced before. And as the visit and activities depend entirely on what’s happening in the villages, no two Artisan Village Tours will be the same. But one thing’s for sure: a trip with the Jaipur Rugs Foundation will offer you a fascinating experience on the intricacies of human connection to ancient art forms like weaving. Perhaps understanding the complexity that goes into making a quality carpet from Jaipur Rugs may even renew your appreciation for arts and culture.
All fees earned from the Artisan Village Tour will go directly into the Jaipur Rugs Foundation to support the communities in the rural villages.
