Crafted from a luxurious blend of silk and silver, these rugs are a stunning collaboration between the renowned Jaipur Rugs and the celebrated artist Jocelyn Burton. Jocelyn, a trailblazer in the design world, has won prestigious awards and adorned esteemed collections with her captivating designs.

Jaipur Rugs, in partnership with one of Britain’s most distinguished silversmiths and jewelry artists, the late Jocelyn Burton, launched a collection of limited edition rugs called Woven Gems. Inspired by some of her most exquisite jewelry pieces, this collection is an extraordinary fusion of art, culture, and sustainability that embodies the confluence of global artistry. Crafted from 100% pure silk by more than 30 artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations across two workshops in India, the collection features 11 striking designs, rooted in Tibetan and Persian construction techniques to suit each of the designs, applying different weaves to confer a distinct range of textures and tactility. The designs include depictions of delicate floral patterns based on Jocelyn’s original painting made when producing a two-meter-long sterling silver tulip centerpiece, coral shapes from the shells and corals Jocelyn collected during her travels.
Jocelyn Burton, a masterful designer, internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading artists in precious metals, and also the first female Freeman of the City of London, had a deep-seated connection with India and its heritage, which encouraged her to channel her creative energies into producing a series of handmade rugs inspired by her iconic jewelry and silverware designs.
During her travels to Delhi and Jaipur, she was captivated by the kaleidoscopic beauty and grandeur of the local architecture, as well as the unparalleled finesse and artistry of the craftsmanship on display. It was in 2018 that the fortuitous alliance between Jaipur Rugs and Jocelyn Burton was forged through the introduction of a common friend. Guided by the Buddhist principles of compassion and equity, which were central to her ethos, Jocelyn's values seamlessly aligned with those of Jaipur Rugs, who held the same beliefs. Her fascination with the extraordinary finesse and skill involved in the ancestral art of rug making found a natural home in Jaipur Rugs' traditional methods. From the initial conceptualization to the final design tweaks made only a week before her untimely passing, Jocelyn Burton had remained wholeheartedly committed to the creation of the collection.

The Collection ‘Woven Gems’ is a collaboration that brings together the unparalleled design expertise of renowned London jeweller Jocelyn Burton and the transcending craftsmanship of traditional Indian artists, while paying homage to the legacy of the first woman silversmith.

About The Rugs and How You Can Style Them

Ammonodia

Our Ammonodia rug takes cues from Jocelyn’s fondness for the sea and its most intriguing creatures. The corner designs depict an ammonite fossil shell from the Jurassic period, which Jocelyn considered to be her favorite shell design.

Style tip:

The Ammonodia rug would be perfect for a beachy or coastal-themed living room. Pair it with neutral-colored furniture and beach-inspired decor, such as seashells and driftwood. You can also incorporate throw pillows, curtains, and other accessories that feature shades of pastel blue and beige. This will create a cohesive look and enhance the coastal vibe of the room.

Crystallum

Our Crystallum rug’s design emanates from a wall sconce made of gold, lapis lazuli, and cast glass.

 Style tip:

The Crystallum rug would look great in a glamorous or Art Deco-inspired living room. To complement the Crystallum rug, pair it with a plush velvet sofa in a rich jewel tone like emerald or sapphire. Add gold or brass accents throughout the room, such as a coffee table with a gold base or brass table lamps. You can also incorporate lapis lazuli accents, such as decorative vases or sculptures, to tie in the inspiration behind the rug's design.

Tessel

The Tessel rug has a luxurious design, which originated as an inlaid stone tabletop. The focal point of the rug is its exuberant wreath motif adorned with an effusion of botanical elements.

Style tip:

The intricate design would work well in a traditional or bohemian-style living room. Pair it with a mix of vintage and modern furniture for an eclectic look. To make the Tessel rug pop, pair it with neutral walls. This will allow the rug's bold colors and detailed handiwork to shine and will highlight the rug's beauty.

Cashew/Light Ivory Hand Knotted Rug

Secretum

The Secretum rug is a true masterpiece of design, inspired by the intricate forms of coral and shell collection from Jocelyn's many adventures.

Style tip:

Its interlocking shapes and playful colors create a sense of intrigue and mystery, making it a perfect addition to any space that seeks to evoke a sense of adventure and whimsy. Consider incorporating accent pieces that echo the rug's color palette. Soft blue or green throw pillows and natural materials like wood or wicker will complement the coral-inspired design of the rug beautifully.

Classic Gray/Pewter Hand Knotted Rug

Arborium

The Arborium rug, inspired by the intricate forms of coral and shell collection from Jocelyn's many adventures, is like owning a slice of the beach and oceanic beauty for your home.

Style tip:

The sandy and coral-inspired design of the Arborium rugs would be perfect for a beachy or tropical-themed bedroom. Pair them with rattan or bamboo furniture and leafy green plants for a relaxed vibe. When it comes to lighting, opt for soft and warm lighting fixtures that create a cozy ambiance. Table lamps with shades in soft hues can help create a calming atmosphere that's perfect for relaxation.

Light Ivory/Light Tan Hand Knotted Rug

Belomancy

The Belomancy rug is a beautiful piece of art that evokes an extract from a quiver of alabaster arrows. Inspired by one of Jocelyn's iconic lit sconces, this rug is perfect for adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to any space.

Style tip:

Our Belomancy rug would look great in a modern or minimalist bedroom. Pair it with a simple platform bed and clean-lined furniture for a sleek look. To enhance the Belomancy rug's elegance, incorporate metallic accents into your decor. Use gold or silver picture frames, a mirrored nightstand, or a metal lamp to add a touch of glamour to its simplicity.

Indigo Blue/Indigo Blue Hand Knotted Rug

Lirio

The delicate floral pattern of this rug is based on Jocelyn’s original painting made when producing a two-meter-long tulip centerpiece in Sterling silver and fine enamels, commissioned by the Chelsea Arts Club in London.

Style tip:

The intricate details of this rug with its vibrant colors would look great in a chic bedroom or layered with different textures like a velvet sofa, a woven throw, with a rustic wooden side table. Pair it with pastel-colored bedding and light-colored furniture to give it a look that's both visually interesting and inviting.

Pebble/Mood Indigo Hand Knotted Rug

Neptune

The Neptune rug draws from the notable Fishmongers Wall Sconce, a piece commissioned by Lord Inchcape to commemorate his father, a former Prime Warden of the Worshipful Company of Fishmongers, and which now sits in the Fishmongers Hall on London Bridge.

 Style tip:

Because the Neptune rug has a bold, eye-catching design, it's important to keep the furniture classic and elegant. Choose timeless pieces with clean lines and neutral colors that won't compete with the rug. A beige linen sofa paired with a white marble coffee table would be a great combination. This will help to create a luxurious and unique space that's perfect for entertaining guests or relaxing with family.

Ebony/Black Olive Hand Knotted Rug

Tapestry

The Tapestry rug is a perfect replica in silk of a design Jocelyn had originally conceived for an inlaid stone table.

Style tip:

The Tapestry rug would work well in a formal dining room or sitting area. Pair it with a traditional wood dining table or tufted armchair for an elegant look. When it comes to styling a rug as beautiful as the Tapestry, it's important to let it be the centerpiece of the room. Keep other decor minimal and understated, so as not to detract from the rug's beauty. A few carefully chosen accessories, such as a crystal chandelier or a vase of fresh flowers, can add just the right touch of elegance without overwhelming the space.

Medium Sky Blue/Blue Tapestry Hand Knotted Rug

Porcella

The Porcella rug displays Jocelyn’s ammonite shell motif found in much of her work.

Style tip:

The Porcella rug would look great in a modern or minimalist living room. Pair it with a neutral-colored sofa and simple, streamlined furniture for a clean look. Use a coffee table or a large floor vase to anchor the space.  Incorporate throw pillows, and curtains colors, and add greenery to your space. Use potted plants, fresh flowers, or a large floor vase to bring a touch of nature into your home. This will create a serene, relaxing atmosphere that's both stylish and comforting.
