Inde Rose - Stunning Rugs Collection's Item Fit For a Royal Palace

Inde Rose is French for India Rose, and much like a rose in bloom, is a delicate unfolding of Vinita’s lifetime of observations—of nature, of gardens, colours, texture, and techniques. “I look at nature wherever I am,” says the designer.

From crafting the most exquisite homes out of mansions, villas, and apartments, to curating art, accessories, and even hosting the odd housewarming party for her clients, interior designer Vinita Chaitanya loves to bring a personal touch to every project. Her designed spaces, which are a blend of craft, artistic vision, and functional requirements of the homeowners, are liveable works of art.

A connoisseur of all things aesthetic, Vinita loves to explore the interplay between design and materialities that weave her love for nature and culture into a seamless vision. Defining her style as ‘contemporary classic,’ the designer says her style has been a work in progress over the last three decades.

This layered approach to design, heritage and style is what set in motion a unique craftsmanship project of designer rugs between Jaipur Rugs and Vinita Chaitanya.

Inde Rose Rugs by Vinita Chaitanya x Jaipur Rugs

An ultra-luxurious collection of hand-knotted rugs, Inde Rose is French for India Rose, and much like a rose in bloom, is a delicate unfolding of Vinita’s lifetime of observations—of nature, of gardens, colours, texture, and techniques. “I look at nature wherever I am,” says the designer.

The carpet designs are inspired by many traditional Indian art styles of miniature paintings. India’s intense and jewel-toned colours are refashioned into expressive pastels; elements of its palace architecture become frames; and its profusion of rich foliage becomes the backdrop for processions of artistically caparisoned elephants—and all of this, rendered into opulent reality with Jaipur Rugs’ expertise with material and method.

Inde Rose - A collector’s item fit for a royal palace:

What elevates the Inde Rose rug collection into true collector’s items is Vinita’s penchant for layering. This manifests in the most charming ways: as print-on-print; as luxurious pastel-dyed silk; as textural contrasts; and most significantly, as carpet pairings that can be layered for maximum effect. The collection consists of five coordinated pairings – each has a graphics-heavy piece and a visually lighter one that subtly mirrors its palette and patterns.

“The Inde Rose collection with my palette of botanicals, architectural elements and the most incredible Indian craftsmanship creates endless possibilities, I am not quite sure I can use a single carpet ever to this effect. This is the first-ever collection of coordinated silk carpets,” enthuses Vinita.

Inde Rose - The design, the material, and the make:

Despite the range of types of rugs that Jaipur Rugs makes, given the intricacy and attention to detail that Inde Rose demanded, it had to be a hand knotted rug collection. Each carpet features three visual layers. In the background, there is a layer of ‘jaals’, which are an architectural feature often seen in Indian palaces. The foreground features two layers: a graphic-heavy piece comprising various foliages found in the subcontinent, followed by the majestic elephants that are the pride of the nation. In the visually lighter pieces, these layers feature textures and traditional motifs (called booti, in Hindi).

More than 25 colors and shades of European pastels were used in the making of each carpet. It is, however, the detailed gultarashi technique that makes the rugs truly come alive. Each rug underwent upto a week of this finishing process which involves careful cutting of the rug yarns to create a high and low pile effect.

Inde Rose - Indian aesthetics from an international lens:

Though named after flowers that bloom linearly over time, Inde Rose rug collection broadens the horizons in all directions, simultaneously. Through these intricate, multi-layered assemblies, Vinita reinterprets traditional Indian aesthetic markers through a glamourous and distinctly international lens. “I have designed the most intricate graphic silk carpets with coordinated layers of five shadowed carpets. These can be used as sophisticated pairs (in rooms) or in multiple layers, where pattern links to pattern, color layers on color,” says Vinita.

At its core, Inde Rose is a celebration of our rich Indian heritage. From using materials of the finest quality to identifying the most skilled artisans who would go on to craft them, the process behind bringing this collector’s edition to life was meticulous and intricate.

The exquisite Inde Rose collection was born with the slow and meticulous hand knotted rug weaving technique. With traditional Indian technique and classic French Country aesthetic reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, you can experience the ultimate in beauty and handcrafted luxury with the finest in designer rugs.

The New Minimalism Isn't About Owning Less. It's About Needing Less Visual Explanation

The biggest lie minimalist decor ever sold was that less automatically looks better. It doesn't. The difference comes down to one overlooked design principle, and it's probably the reason your minimalist room still doesn't feel the way designer homes do.
