The Design Story
tarakkiTarakkiThis Manchaha by Asif and Ajij tells the story of their journey as weavers. When they began weaving, they were still learning and felt more comfortable making bold, larger patterns. That is why the lower part of the rug is filled with broad, flowing forms and simple geometric designs. As the rug grew, so did their confidence. At the centre, they wove a large checkered diamond that became the focal point of the composition. It brings together the two halves of the rug and reflects the patience and precision they had developed by then. With this medallion, the two weavers began experimenting with finer details. The upper half of the rug is filled with more intricate patterns, carefully woven textures, and delicate geometric forms. Looking from the bottom to the top, one can see how their skills gradually improved with every knot. Proud of their achievement and learning, they named their rug “Tarakki” (Progress).
