The Design Story
tulu-ae-gulTulu-ae-gulEnthusiasts of art never stop finding art around them. An artist will find ideas in the most random things. Even a far-lost memory can be a muse for the artists at work. The weavers -Govind, Vinod, Rahul - who worked on this carpet are art lovers. Their keen interest in creating things led them to weave together. They came up with the idea of weaving the inner parts of the carpet with silk and the outer part with wool. The designs vary from flowers to air balloons. There are motifs of mountains, rivers, and even trees; picking up muses from nature. Interestingly, the weavers give the carpet an Urdu name - “Tulu-ae-gul” which translates to the blooming of the flower. As their art blooms on their Manchaha rug, they look forward to creating more such art pieces.
