Handwoven Carpets of Hope

Freedom Manchaha is an expansion of the Manchaha line, taking the project into 7 prisons in Rajasthan and interacting with over 560 inmates. Jaipur Rugs provided the inmates with looms and yarn and took a leap of faith in the unique creative perspective of these artists. For long-term prisoners confined within the walls of incarceration, this project brings a glimmer of hope, empowerment, and self-expression. The opportunity to design their own rugs spontaneously on the loom allows them to break free from the constraints of their physical confinement and explore the vast landscapes of their imagination.
