The Design Story
shubh shuruwaatShubh ShuruwaatRim Jhim’s first Manchaha, like any new venture, was filled with excitement and nervousness. Having recently learned to weave, she felt apprehensive when given the chance to create a Manchaha. However, she wanted to start the rug on a positive note, which is why she began by weaving sacred Diyas (oil lamps) that signify symbols of light and hope. Following that, she incorporated traditional designs familiar to her, such as leheriya (wavy patterns), zigzag motifs, and dots. During the creation of this Manchaha, her father was in the hospital, and Rim Jhim managed household expenses with her weaving income, as her mother stayed by her father's side. With such resilience, she named this Manchaha "Shubh Shuruwaat," which means "Auspicious Beginnings," as a tribute to the new journey she was embarking on.
