The Design Story
sitaareSitaareYahya, Yaadram and Beerbal had a lot of fun weaving their Manchaha rug on their favorite theme, cricket! They crafted the rug at Dausa Jail using the hand-knotting technique. Their main inspiration was their desire to watch a live cricket match in a stadium, so they designed a cricket stadium with thousands of people watching. What's interesting about their rug is the perspective they used to create their design. They chose a bird's eye view, which would allow them to see the entire match, with the audience looking tiny like stars on the ground. They shared their childhood memories of playing cricket every day with their friends during the weaving process . The rug beautifully captures the vibrant happiness that the game offers in each knot and is named "Sitaare" (Stars).
