The Design Story
hriday rekhaHriday RekhaMahaveer is a senior weaver from Kekri, Rajasthan, and has been working with Jaipur Rugs for over three decades. For the last 12 years, he has been part of the Manchaha programme, where he weaves freely, guided by experience rather than fixed designs. Years at the loom have given him a deep feel for colour, texture, and balance. This rug draws from the world around him. He intricately wove surfaces that resemble the walls of his home, along with details of leaves, flowers, and symbols from playing cards that often pass through his hands in daily life. The highlight of this rug is a thin line of bright red hearts running across the rug. Mahaveer calls this the “Hriday Rekha”—the Heart Line. For him, it carries the effort, care, and emotion he put into every knot of this carpet.
