The Design Story
do pehluDo PehluV.P. Singh’s new Manchaha begins with his familiar diamond medallion, but soon the weaving took its own direction. Dark, wave-like lines rose around the form, like a shadow unfolding by itself. The contrast made the colors beside them glow even brighter, as though the pattern was defining itself through light and dark. Without planning it, V.P. found himself creating positive and negative space. He said, “I was making just one design…the other one emerged by itself.” Inspired by this natural duality, he titled the rug “Do Pehlu" (Two Sides).
